JOB SUMMARY
Inver Grove Heights Schools is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable 9th Grade Baseball Coach for the upcoming spring season. The 9th Grade Coach is responsible for the development, instruction, and supervision of the freshman baseball team. This role focuses on transitioning student-athletes from youth programs to the high school level by emphasizing fundamental skills, sportsmanship, and the "199 Way" of belonging and engagement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accept and Implement the extra-curricular philosophy of the High School and the athletic program.
Encourages student-athletes to pursue multi-sport, multi-activity participation. Has thorough knowledge of Minnesota State High School League policies. Generates an attitude of good sportsmanship and fair play by adhering to the MSHSL’s code of ethics.
Coordinate the training, instruction, and conditioning of athletes within the program.
Communicates with activities director and administration regarding program questions and concerns.
Develops and organizes effective practices for athletes that teach skills needed to compete.
Ensures the professional development of the entire coaching staff.
Participates in the budget functions with the Activities Director.
Demonstrates and generates, among your staff and players, an attitude of good sportsmanship and fair play by adhering to the "Coach’s Code of Ethics" and our sportsmanship guidelines.
Represents the school in a professional manner in demeanor, language, and conduct.
Adheres to the rules set forth by the school, Metro East Conference, MSHSL and the NFHS.
Provides for the health, safety, and well being of team members and coaches at practices, games, competitions, and transportation to and from games.
Affects a proper relationship with athletes and parents.
Assists players w/ development opportunities and post-high school planning, when applicable.
Manages the distribution and collection of equipment on a timely basis, informing athletes of their responsibility for the use and return of athletic equipment/uniforms.
Assists the activities director and athletic administrative assistant in post-season reporting, awards/recognition protocols, and banquet planning as needed.
All coaches must meet the requirements of continuing education training in the MSHSL.
Participates in required district and MSHSL training and education.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Meets the minimum State Statute Requirement to be a head coach in Minnesota
Attend an MSHSL “Why We Play” Head Coaches Course
Proven experience in teaching and modeling character and responsible behavior
Positive, high energy, and committed
Partners well with parents, staff, community leaders, etc.
View success not just as winning, but as helping teams members reach defined goals and continuous improvement.
SALARY
Stipend will be $2,783
