DATE: May 4, 2026POSITION TITLE: Special Education/ Life Skills Functional Academic Teacher - 2026-2027 School YearLOCATION: Glen Rose High SchoolSALARY RANGE: Minimum - According to District Salary ScheduleLENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 10 monthsPOSITION SUMMARY: Provide students and/or special education students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills in functional academics, communication, socialization, and life skills as preparation for future vocational training. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree from accredited college or universityValid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and levelassigned (Special Education/Content Area)Teaching experience preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned areaKnowledge of Admissions, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee processand Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementationKnowledge of community based and supportive prevocational placements and supports preferredAbility to consult with parents/students regarding post transition planning, vocational assessments, and familiarity with post transition supports systems (Social Security, DRS, Medicaid etc.)General knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to instruct students and manage their behaviorStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAPPLICATION PROCEDURES:District Employees: Send letter of intent and transfer request.Outside Applicants: Complete online application located at ESC Region 11 Applicant Login.
