This role is responsible for assisting patrons, maintaining library materials, and supporting various library functions to ensure a welcoming and efficient environment.The Library Assistant will provide assistance with library resources, technology, and programming while ensuring accurate material handling and excellent customer service. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work a flexible schedule. Perform other duties as assigned.Experience RequirementsMinimum of one (1) year of customer service or library experience (college education may substitute for experience)Experience working directly with the public in a service-oriented environmentExperience handling transactions, cash, or point-of-service systemsExperience using computers, databases, or library systemsExperience assisting individuals with technology, including computers and applicationsExperience organizing materials, records, or inventoryStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience PreferencesExperience working in a public library or educational settingExperience supporting youth or adult programmingFamiliarity with library catalogs, databases, and circulation systemsExperience creating displays, promotional materials, or community outreach contentPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, and walk for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 25 pounds as neededAbility to perform tasks involving bending, kneeling, and reachingAbility to push carts, shelve books, and handle library materialsEducation RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentEducation PreferencesSome college coursework in Library Science, Education, or a related fieldTraining Schedule:TBDSchedule:Flexible/rotating schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and potential assignments at multiple branch locationsDress Code:Business casualBenefits:TBDAdditional Information:Drug screening, background, and reference checks are performed if required.
