In-Home Field Technology Specialist

Job Summary As a Starlink Installation/Field Specialist, you will be responsible for the professional installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Starlink satellite systems as well and working with other in-home technologies at residential and commercial customer sites. This field-based role requires technical expertise, customer service excellence, and a commitment to safety while working at heights and in varied weather conditions. Key Responsibilities Site Surveys & Installations Conduct pre-installation site assessments to determine optimal dish placement for line-of-sight to Starlink satellites. Install Starlink kits (dish, mount, router, cables) on rooftops, poles, or ground mounts using industry-standard tools and hardware. System Configuration & Testing Assemble and align satellite dishes, run cabling (interior/exterior), configure Wi-Fi routers, and verify signal strength using the Starlink app and diagnostic tools. Ensure download speeds exceed 100 Mbps and latency is below 50 ms. Customer Training & Support Educate customers on system operation, app usage, obstruction management, and basic troubleshooting. Provide clear documentation and follow-up support. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve issues including signal obstructions, hardware failures, firmware updates, and network connectivity problems. Perform repairs or replacements as needed. Safety & Compliance Adhere to OSHA safety standards, use fall protection equipment, and maintain a clean, professional work site. Ensure installations meet local building codes and Starlink guidelines. Documentation & Reporting Complete digital work orders, upload photos, and log installation metrics via mobile app. Report inventory usage and customer feedback. Required Qualifications Experience: 2+ years in satellite TV (DirecTV/Dish), broadband, or telecom installation; Starlink-specific experience a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency with power tools, cable termination (RJ45, coax), and multimeters Understanding of RF signals, IP networking, and Wi-Fi configuration Familiarity with the Starlink app and dish alignment process Certifications: Valid driver’s license with clean record OSHA 10-hour (or willingness to obtain) Fall protection/rooftop safety training Starlink Certified Installer (preferred) Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 75+ lbs and work at heights (ladders/rooftops) Comfortable working outdoors in all weather Flexible schedule (weekends/evenings as needed) Preferred Skills Experience with pole mounts, non-penetrating roof mounts, and marine/RV installations Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus in rural markets Basic electrical knowledge (120V wiring, grounding) Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour Benefits: Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location: In person
