ConsultationWork with classroom teachers to implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of students. Student ManagementCreate an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interests of students.Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Program ManagementCompile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required including maintaining clinical records in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneMental Demands/ Physical Demands/ Environmental FactorsMental Demands:Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressureTools/ Equipment Used:Standard testing equipment; standard office equipment including computer and peripheralsPosture:Frequent sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion:Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extensionLifting:Regular light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds), occasional heaving lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint; assisting nonambulatory studentsEnvironment:Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases; may require districtwide travel*Supervisors of licensed speech-language assistants must be licensed by SBESLPA as speech-language pathologists. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties.
