We are seeking a hands-on R&D Manager to lead research and product development initiatives within a dynamic manufacturing and research environment. This role is ideal for an experienced chemist who has successfully taken projects from concept through validation and implementation and is ready to step into a leadership position while remaining technically engaged in the lab.
The ideal candidate will combine strong scientific expertise with leadership capability, guiding a small team while driving innovation, product development, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead research and development projects from concept through validation and implementation
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a small team of chemists and laboratory staff
Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and interpret results to support product and process innovation
Develop new formulations, materials, or processes aligned with business objectives
Troubleshoot technical challenges and optimize existing products or manufacturing processes
Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards
Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and regulatory teams
Present technical findings, project updates, and recommendations to leadership
Evaluate and prioritize R&D initiatives based on business needs, technical feasibility, and available resources
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field
5+ years of hands-on experience as a chemist in an industrial, manufacturing, or research environment
1–2 years of leadership experience (team lead, project lead, or supervisory role)
Experience developing projects from concept through validation and implementation
Strong knowledge of experimental design, laboratory best practices, and data analysis
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with product development or formulation chemistry
Familiarity with regulatory and quality compliance standards
Ability to manage multiple R&D projects simultaneously
Experience working in a research or manufacturing environment
