Sewer/Cutter

Gresham International is a hi-end office furniture manufacturer originating in the UK, who has recently launched their first US manufacturing facility. Gresham is seeking Soft Seating Sewer who is also skilled in Fabric Cutting. As a sewer in our seating department, you will follow patterns and sew fabric according to Gresham Standard. *4-day workweek; work 36 hours, paid for 40 hours!* *First Shift Hours: 7:00am - 4:30pm Monday – Thursday. OT Fridays if needed.* *Gresham offers PTO, Holiday Pay, benefits package, and a team atmosphere.* *Job Duties:* · Selects thread according to colours of fabric. * Joins pieces together according to sewing notes using sewing machine. * Aligns pieces and any trimmings following seams, edges or markings on parts. * Checks for any puckering or bad seams. * Locates correct patterns/lay-up requirements, and check fabric/leather for defects * Marks and cuts fabric to proper pattern size and stack * Records all yardage, cut information, and name on proper cutting documents *Requirements:* * Has experience working in a furniture manufacturing environment * Understanding of sewing zippers and top stitch (flatstitch) * Ability to re-thread the machine and change needles (essential) * The ability to take accurate measurements and work out amounts of materials * 3+ Years of reading and understanding patterns and yardstick measurements. * Experience reading and interpreting cutting patterns. * Must be able to cut plain, line up, match and spot fabrics. * Must be able to read and understand cutting instructions. * Good attention to detail * Patience, perseverance & time management * Safety-awareness; follow all H&S procedure * Self-motivation and the ability to work without supervision. * High School Diploma or GED * Ability to pass a pre-hire background check and drug screen. *Physical Requirements:* * Your work may be physically demanding, involving sitting, standing, lifting up to 50lbs * Sitting at sewing station for majority of shift * Must be able to stand to cut patterns on a tall cutting table * Must be able to walk/stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day Job Type: Full-time Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour Benefits: * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Paid time off * Vision insurance Schedule: * 10 hour shift * Day shift * Holidays * Weekends as needed Ability to commute/relocate: * High Point, NC 27260: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person
