Under the supervision of the Fitness Coordinator, Personal Trainers will plan and execute personal and group training sessions for users in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with City of McHenry policies and procedures.Wage is dependent on qualifications.Position will remain open until filled.Job DutiesAdministers and evaluates client health history questionnaires and physiological data to develop individual exercise programs based on results from the client's assessments and stated goals and needs.Attends relevant staff meetings and trainings.Keeps organized records of each clients training sessions and makes them available to supervisory staff of the Parks & Recreation Department.Is available for flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.Is present at least 10 minutes prior to the start of each training session and enforces proper check in procedures.Monitors clients' exercise programs and makes adjustments/improvements as needed.Leads equipment orientations for new members.Provides personal training consultations for prospective clients.Check supplies and equipment for wear and tear and advises if supplies or equipment need repair or replacement.Demonstrates leadership as a health and wellness professional.Is available to teach group personal training classes as needed.Demonstrates a mature and professional attitude through dependability, punctuality and genuine awareness.Provides excellent customer service to all patrons.Maintain a professional, diplomatic, and friendly relationship with patrons.Promptly greet patrons in a pleasant and friendly manner.Follows all safety guidelines while using City of McHenry facilities.Administer first aid when absolutely necessary.Ensures adherence to safety and injury prevention policies and procedures; prepares accident reports as required.Keeps an open line of communication with Recreation Center Manager regarding daily operations, problems, and member feedback.Perform the job safely and in compliance with City of McHenry policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee manual.Performs related duties as required by management to meet the needs of the Parks & Recreation Department and the customer.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Exercise Science or be certified through a nationally accredited organization in required.Certification from ACE, ACSM, NASM, or AFAA is preferred.A minimum of one-year professional experience as a personal trainer is preferred.Desired employee should have advanced knowledge of fitness equipment, fitness trends and wellness knowledge.Trainer must have the ability to work with and understand the varying needs of patrons of a wide age range.Trainer must maintain certifications in CPR, AED and First Aid.Trainer must have the able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.Trainer must possess time management and organizational skills to effectively perform his/her job.Trainer must demonstrate good customer service skills with the ability to problem solve resident or participant complaints.Trainer must have the ability to make judgments with respect to confidentiality of information and problem solving.Trainer must show knowledge of anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and wellness information.Physical Requirements:Walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handlingwill be required frequently.Lifting is required, up to 100lbs.Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position.The City of McHenry is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status, or any other protected class.01What are your current fitness certifications?02How many years of experience do you have with personal training?
