Work involves providing customer service support and responding to mail related inquires. The OAG Mail Center performs a variety of functions that support the agency mission and activities by accurately processing 5 million incoming and outgoing items annually.The OAG is a dynamic state agency with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. OAG employees enjoy excellent benefits (https://ers.texas.gov/Benefits-at-a-Glance) along with tremendous opportunities to do important work at a large, dynamic state agency making a positive difference in the lives of Texans.ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONSIntake, evaluate and sort incoming mail, paying special attention to mail codes and document attributes to ensure it is routed correctlyReceive and process incoming documents and incoming paymentsResponds to staff inquiries regarding incoming and outgoing mail correspondence in accordance with Division guidelines, policies and procedures.Research guidelines, policy and procedure to provide guidance to complex requestsCommunicates with agency staff in person, by phone, or emailProcesses certified and overnight mail, enters information into databasesCreate and maintain activity logs, files, and reports on servicesPerforms general clerical services including filing and record keepingReads and interprets rules, regulations, policies and proceduresPerforms related work as assignedMaintains Relevant Knowledge Necessary To Perform Essential Job FunctionsAttends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work scheduleEnsures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected informationComplies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrityQualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Graduation from high school or equivalentExperience: Two year of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: administrative support, customer service, general office, or clerical experience in a professional office or mail center environment; may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experienceKnowledge of mail operations and processesKnowledge of city streets and ability to navigate prescribed locations in a timely mannerKnowledge of traffic regulationsSkill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlinesSkill in effective oral and written communicationSkill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision makingAbility to receive and respond positively to constructive feedbackAbility to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environmentAbility to provide excellent customer serviceAbility to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travelAbility to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSAAbility to lift and relocate 50 lbs.Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%Must possess a valid Texas driverand#8217;s license and good driving re ordPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience working in the Office of the Attorney General or other governmental agencyKnowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, and OutlookOne year full-time general mail operationsTO APPLYTo apply for a job with the OAG, electronic applications can be submitted through CAPPS Recruit.
