Job DescriptionAdmissions Counselor, AdmissionsTracking Code A1501IJOB DESCRIPTION: Cameron University Admissions Counselors are based in Lawton, Oklahoma and responsible for the recruitment, admission advisement, and matriculation of prospective students within the university's primary service area and beyond. This is an entry-level position that reports to the Assistant Director of Admissions.Job Duties of an Admissions Counselor include but are not limited to:• Professionally and efficiently execute Cameron University's commitment to student success• Outreacho Disseminating and effectively communicating admission requirements and procedures to prospective students, parents, families, other members of the public, faculty and staffo Providing knowledgeable and professional representation of Cameron University with students in groups, one-on-one, and during on- and off- campus events to increase community awarenesso Assisting prospective students and their families with the Cameron University admissions application, Oklahoma's Promise application, Federal Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA), and other pre-college preparation requirementso Attending events and making presentations to communicate with prospective students and their families in an effort to promote Cameron University and its programso Composing letters, other correspondence, special reports and materials, and managing e-mail correspondence daily• Enrollmento Supporting the enrollment goals of the university by implementing effective admission programs and procedureso Working directly with area high schools, technical centers, businesses, and other constituencies in activities designed to prepare students for college and recruit studentso Evaluating prospective student needs and building productive relationships by providing individualized assistance with educational goal identification, program selection, payment/financial aid planning, and paths to degree completiono Corresponding professionally with students offering advice, resources, or referral to other campus resourceso Addressing issues and inquiries from prospective students, parents, families, and other members of the public in a timely and professional manner• Marketingo Facilitating admission and conversion process through various recruiting methods to include but not limited to: automated and personalized communication, high school visits, pre-screened cold calling, presentations, etco Maintaining and expanding prospective student recruitment through lead generation, prospect guidance, and matriculation assistanceo Researching prospective student history, following through on leads, and maintaining records on assigned recruiting territory into the current Student Information Systemo Maintaining and promoting the Cameron Admissions social media accounts.• Operationalo Advising the Assistant Director of Admissions on significant matters and supporting other members of the team in meeting goals and expectationso Contributing information and supporting team efforts by accomplishing goals, monitoring competition and reactions from prospective studentso Assisting with processing admission applications for undergraduate and graduate students and coding them in the proper admission category based on Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) and Cameron University policieso Determining admissibility to Cameron based on evaluation of academic transcripts and test scoreso Creating a database record for each student by entering information in the student information system from source documents• Representing the university in a professional manner• Performing and assisting with other related duties as assigned• Participating in staff development programs and campus functionsRequired Knowledge Skills/Abilities• Demonstrate time-management skills, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines• Strong interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving skills, and demonstrate skills in oral and written communication• Ability to work and communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse populations• Demonstrate ability to quickly establish rapport with and efficiently serve prospective students• Presentation and public speaking skills• Experience in working with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Suite• Ability to lift weight (10-20 lbs) on a regular basis• Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time• Ability to travel for recruiting purposes and work independently with minimal supervision• Familiarity to work in an electronic environment to include web and social marketing in addition to virtual recruitment meetingsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS1. An earned bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university2. Minimum of two years responsible employment3. Valid Driver's LicensePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS1. Bilingual - Spanish2. Experience recruiting diverse and varied student populations including low socioeconomic (SES), first generation, and other groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education3. Experience working with Slate, Banner, and CognosSALARY: $30,500. Opportunity for performance compensation subject to approval and budgetary availability.TRAVEL: Admissions Counselors are expected to travel extensively within Cameron University's recruitment zones. If available and requested, a university vehicle will be provided. Employees will be reimbursed for travel expenses incurred while conducting official university business to include lodging, per Diem, and transportation.
