*JOB TITLE: *JAVA DEVELOPER *JOB FAMILY: *Engineering / Software Development. *JOB FUNCTION: *Backend Software Engineer *LOCATION: *Tysons, VA - Onsite (5 days per week) *SENIORITY:* Mid-level 3+ years *CORE LANGUAGE:* Java *ARCHITECTURE:* Enterprise applications / OOD / Design Patterns *DATABASES:* Relational databases + SQL *ENVIRONMENT:* Enterprise / Financial Services + Agile/Scrum *SALARY:* Up to $75/hr (equivalent to approximately $150k/year). *Position Overview* We are seeking a skilled *Java Developer with 3+ years of professional experience *in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java and a solid understanding of software development principles, databases, testing, and Agile methodologies. Candidates with experience in the *financial services or finance industry* are highly preferred. Relevant backgrounds may include experience in banking, financial systems, investment management, fintech, or professional finance credentials such as *CFA*. *Qualifications * ● Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. ● *3+ years of professional software development experience.* ● *3+ years of hands-on Java development experience.* ● Strong proficiency in *Java* and core Java libraries. ● Experience developing and maintaining enterprise applications. ● Solid understanding of *Object-Oriented Design (OOD)* principles and software design patterns. ● Demonstrable experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment. ● Proficiency in using Docker for containerization and environment management. ● Solid understanding of relational databases and *SQL*. ● Experience with version control systems such as *Git, GitHub, or GitLab*. ● Experience with automated testing frameworks and unit testing. ● Experience with *JUnit, Mockito*, or similar testing and mocking frameworks is preferred. ● Experience working in *Agile/Scrum* development environments. ● Understanding of application performance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and optimization techniques. ● Ability to identify and resolve application performance, security, and scalability issues. ● Experience creating and maintaining clear technical documentation. ● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. ● Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams. *Preferred Qualifications* ● *Finance or financial services industry experience*. ● Experience with banking, investment management, fintech, financial applications, or other financial systems. ● *CFA or other relevant finance-related credentials/coursework*. ● Experience with *Angular and TypeScript* is preferred but *not required*. ● Exposure to additional modern Java technologies and frameworks. *Keys to Succeed in This Role* ● Demonstrates strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. ● Has solid hands-on *Java development experience* and the ability to learn new technologies quickly. ● Think critically and act decisively when assessing situations and resolving technical challenges. ● Adapts quickly to changing priorities, technologies, and business needs. ● Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and embraces continuous improvement. ● Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. ● Builds productive relationships and collaborates effectively with diverse teams. ● Demonstrates sound business judgment and a customer-focused mindset. ● Takes ownership of work and consistently delivers high-quality software solutions. ● Applies attention to detail when developing, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting applications.
