Join our team and help us achieve our vision of a resilient and thriving community through expert management of our wastewater pump station operations.As the Pump Station General Supervisor, you would lead a team of skilled professionals responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of 70+ municipal wastewater pump stations to include skilled and technical work relating to repairs, installation, and maintenance of the City's system.Pump Station General Supervisor responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Planning and assigning activities of maintenance crews consisting of Mechanics and Maintenance Workers.Pump Station maintenance; installation/removal/repair of pumps, valves, and piping.Conducting site inspections to include performing and documenting pump station efficiency tests.Maintaining safety policies and compliance with sanitary sewage regulations.Personnel evaluations and discipline along with performing daily data entries into personnel time management and maintenance management systems.Investigating and responding to customer inquiries.May supervise multiple crews at the same time.Being skilled with computerized work order systems; standardized forms; evaluation of projects and cost estimates of same is essential for the position. A Class A CDL is required at the time of hire. A tanker endorsement must be obtained within 6 months of hire.The City of Chesapeake offers an exceptional range of benefits. We can't wait to meet you!Required QualificationsVOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in civil engineering, construction, mechanical trade, or a closely related fieldEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT : In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience.SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards ; CDL and special skills or equipment certification may be required.Preferred Qualifications
