Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in Data Engineering and Databricks. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and delivering functionality for our products. You will work closely with the product team, collaborate with stakeholders, and provide technical coaching to other engineers. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Python, AWS, Apache Spark, and a strong background in data engineering and machine learning.
Responsibilities:
Develop, code, configure, and test programs and systems
Evaluate and implement enhancement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
Analyze assignments and determine software specifications to achieve objectives
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure that features meet business needs
Follow industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation
Mentor junior software engineers on the team
Required Skills:
Hands-on experience with Python, AWS, and Apache Spark
Minimum 3 years of data engineering experience, building pipelines and ETL processes with hands-on Databricks experience
Hands-on experience with machine learning
5 or more years of hands-on experience in AWS/JAVA J2EE in the design, development, testing, and integration of complex backend systems
Experience working with big data
Nice to Have Skills:
Proven experience in designing and implementing loosely coupled microservices
2 or more years of experience in cloud development with platforms like AWS
2 or more years of hands-on experience with full-stack design patterns and designing loosely coupled architectures
Experience with CI/CD build processes and configuration
4 or more years of proven experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment
Deep experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles
Experience with Test Driven Development and Unit Test Frameworks
Skilled in interpersonal communications, negotiation, conflict resolution, and mentoring
Additional Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
Ability to work a hybrid schedule (2 days/week in the Moline IL office)
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $80.00 - $85.00 per hour
