We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions.The Role: As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be a key technical partner in supporting the safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing of Xylem’s Heat Transfer products. You will drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling while partnering closely with unionized production teams and cross-functional departments. This role supports the strategic deployment of capital investment, cost reduction, and Lean initiatives in alignment with operational goals, safety standards, and quality expectations.Key Accountabilities & Core ResponsibilitiesProcess Optimization and Technical DocumentationDevelop and improve repeatable manufacturing processes to reduce cycle time, increase throughput, and reduce wasteImplement Lean principles and VBLSS tools to support continuous improvementCreate and maintain routings, BOMs, WPS/PQR files, and standard work documentationEnsure documentation meets ISO and internal quality standardsAlign technical instructions with union job classifications and training requirementsCost Analysis and Capital ImprovementConduct time studies and prepare standard cost dataDevelop cost justifications and capital project proposalsLead the installation and launch of new equipment or process upgradesSupport plant layout changes and capacity expansion projectsTooling, CNC, and Robotic Welding SupportDesign or specify jigs, fixtures, and tooling for improved efficiency and operator safetyGenerate CNC and robotic welding programs to support precision and repeatabilityTrain and support operators in the effective use of new tools or technologyCross-Functional and Labor CollaborationWork closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Supply Chain teamsParticipate in daily production meetings to align on safety, quality, and delivery goalsSupport labor-management communication by ensuring changes are clearly understood by all partiesEnsure training aligns with union job responsibilities and promotes success on the floorProblem Solving and Continuous ImprovementInvestigate production, quality, or tooling issues using structured problem-solving methodsImplement corrective actions to ensure sustained improvementBenchmark and introduce new technology or best practicesProvide technical backup to other Manufacturing Engineers or Supervisors as neededEquipment Evaluation and Workplace SafetyEvaluate machine capacity, reliability, and layout to recommend improvementsIncorporate safety and ergonomic improvements into all equipment upgradesSupport departmental continuity during vacations, absences, or special projectsMinimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing related major BSIE, BSME, BSIT, BSMT3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing industry preferred Must possess good analytical and technical skills.Strong communication skills (written and oral)Must have a good working knowledge of entire manufacturing processes3D CAD Software knowledgePreferred QualificationsSix Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing CertificationsCNC and Robotic Welding programming experienceAS400 Business System KnowledgePhysical DemandsRegularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facilitySitting and Walking/Standing: 50/50Stair ClimbingWork EnvironmentOffice: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.Office/Mfg.
