based on business requirementsContract: 4-Month Contract-to-HireTravel: Occasional in-state travel may be required.Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to support enterprise data environments and assist with the administration, performance, security, availability, and optimization of SQL Server databases.The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with SQL Server administration, T-SQL, stored procedures, performance tuning, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, SQL Server Always On, Azure database environments, PowerShell automation, SSIS, and Power BI configuration.This role will collaborate closely with application development, BI, infrastructure, and IT teams to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and support SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments.Perform database backup, recovery, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.Design and maintain logical and physical database structures.Develop, optimize, and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.Implement database indexing strategies and perform query and database performance tuning.Manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and high-availability environments.Develop and test disaster recovery, backup, restore, migration, purge, and archival procedures.Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server database software.Troubleshoot database connectivity, operational, hardware, and software issues.Manage and support Azure database virtual machines and related database infrastructure.Develop PowerShell scripts for database administration, automation, monitoring, and scheduled jobs.Build, maintain, and troubleshoot SSIS packages and ETL workflows for data integration and transformation.Configure and support Power BI datasets, gateways, and refresh schedules.Collaborate with application and BI teams to support reporting, analytics, and data-driven solutions.Review existing database architecture and recommend improvements.Assist with database design, standards, naming conventions, security guidelines, and technical documentation.Implement database migrations, schema changes, and production database object changes.Develop database administration tools, utilities, and operational procedures.Identify and resolve complex database and application performance issues.Work with IT teams to define requirements related to data storage, retrieval, performance, and availability.Assist with interviewing, onboarding, training, and mentoring junior developers or database professionals.Provide on-call support for critical database issues and off-hours production processes when required.Maintain accurate database documentation and operational procedures.Perform other duties related to database administration and data management as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field with 5+ years of database administration experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server, preferably across versions ranging from SQL Server 2000 through SQL Server 2022.Strong knowledge of T-SQL and stored procedure development.Experience with database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting.Experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and/or clustering.Experience with database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery planning.Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation and administrative tasks.Experience with Azure database environments/virtual machines.Experience configuring and supporting Power BI datasets, gateways, and refresh schedules.Experience developing and maintaining SSIS packages and ETL processes.Strong understanding of relational database design and administration.Ability to troubleshoot complex software, hardware, database, and connectivity issues.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of physical data models, technical architecture, system interfaces, and database environments.Knowledge of SQL Server clustering, replication, Always On, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication
