Pet Care Professional (Pet Sitter & Dog Walker)

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Pet Care Professional (Pet Sitter & Dog Walker) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and the ability to provide exceptional care and attention to pets while ensuring their safety and well-being. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy spending time outdoors and have experience with various pet breeds and temperaments. Hiring for days, evenings, and weekends. Responsibilities Walk dogs in a safe and controlled manner, ensuring they receive adequate exercise and socialization. Monitor the health and behavior of each dog, reporting any concerns to the owner or supervisor. Maintain a positive relationship with clients by providing excellent customer service during interactions. Handle multiple dogs at once, demonstrating strong animal restraint and handling skills. Ensure that all dogs are leashed securely and that proper equipment is used during walks. Clean up after dogs during walks, maintaining cleanliness in public spaces. Provide basic training commands as needed to reinforce good behavior during walks. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their dog's needs, preferences, and any issues that may arise. Requirements: Provide exceptional care for a variety of pet shapes, sizes, and temperaments including dogs of all sizes, cats, birds, and other types of pets. Frequent leash walking of all sizes and breeds of dogs while keeping the safety of the pet and the walker priority Provide pet visits during scheduled times in all-weather conditions including rain, cold, heat, and after dark Demonstrate understanding of basic pet behavior Clean up pet-related accidents Maintain and secure client keys and home Additional responsibilities may include handling mail and packages, plant care, waste handling, and other household requests Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent Valid driver license and reliable transportation with auto insurance coverage Live within our service area and willingness to travel to all our clients in Bath, West Bath, Brunswick and surrounding areas Eligible to work in the United States and pass a background check Must possess or have the ability to obtain pet first aid and CPR certification Effective time-management skills demonstrating dependability, reliability, and flexibility Demonstrate professionalism with pets, clients, and staff Ability to follow detailed client directions and apply problem solving skills Maintain composure and remain calm in emergency situations which may involve aggressive or sick animals Excellent verbal and written communication skills utilizing proper grammar and spelling Use a mobile app to track schedule, time, and mileage, and communicate with clients Prior animal care experience preferred Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and capable of effectively controlling the leash of a dog over 50 lbs Must be able to visually inspect pets Must be comfortable and able to walk for long periods throughout shifts Must be comfortable and able to climb stairs, sit, stand, crouch, kneel, and run Driving to addresses within assigned region Work environment requires no barriers or aversions to touching, smelling, or being in close proximity with animals or animal fluids Ability to assess situations accurately and respond quickly Join our team where your passion for pets can shine through while providing essential care for our furry friends!
