AutoCAD Drafter I: Entry-Level

Location: Remote (Salt Lake City, UT metro area) Reports To: A&E Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Overview Coal Creek Consulting LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and solutions-oriented AutoCAD Drafter I to join our Architecture & Engineering (A&E) team. This entry-level role supports the development of wireless infrastructure by producing accurate and compliant zoning and construction drawings for new and existing wireless sites. Working under the guidance of the A&E Manager and senior team members, you will help translate site data, field information, and project requirements into high-quality 2D design documents. A strong attention to detail, willingness to learn company standards, and ability to collaborate with internal teams will be key to your success in this role. This position is not intended for engineers or individuals pursuing engineering licensure. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Design & Drafting Prepare and update 2D AutoCAD drawings for wireless communication sites Apply established CAD standards, layers, and templates consistently Use site notes, field data, photos, and online mapping tools to ensure design accuracy Revise drawings based on feedback from internal teams, clients, and jurisdictions Project Coordination & Collaboration Communicate with A&E team members to clarify design details and project requirements Assist with drafting and documentation related to zoning and permitting submittals Coordinate with internal teams to ensure deliverables meet deadlines and quality expectations Compliance & Documentation Maintain organized drawing files and version history Perform basic quality checks on drawing sets prior to submittal Follow company procedures to ensure drawings comply with zoning and building regulations Professional Development & Team Support Participate in ongoing AutoCAD and telecom design training Seek feedback and apply lessons learned to improve drafting efficiency and accuracy Participate in team meetings and support documentation needs as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school, or up to one year of related experience AutoCAD coursework, certification, or a degree in Architecture or Engineering preferred Technical Skills Working knowledge of AutoCAD (2015 or newer preferred) Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and Google Earth is helpful Core Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy Willingness to learn and accept feedback Dependability and ability to meet deadlines Clear written and verbal communication skills Ability to follow established standards and procedures Work Location & Travel Must reside in the Salt Lake City, UT metro area This is a remote position, with occasional field and site visits required Ability to travel within the assigned region and to surrounding states as needed Must have reliable personal transportation (mileage reimbursed at company-approved rate) Ability to climb ladders and access rooftops occasionally Additional Requirements Background check and drug test required Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks effectively ABOUT Coal Creek Consulting LLC Coal Creek Consulting LLC is a wireless infrastructure consulting and project management company specializing in entitlement and construction management services for wireless carriers across Arizona, Utah, and Oregon.
