Technical Project Manager – Tier 1 Application Upgrade Work Requirement: 100% RemoteContract Duration: 9 Months Role Summary An enterprise organization is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead a multi-phase upgrade of a Tier 1 enterprise application. The platform is an Application Extender / Content Management Workflow system that is currently several versions behind and requires a structured, low-risk upgrade path to reach the latest supported release.This role is critical to ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of a business-critical system used across the organization. The Technical Project Manager will own end-to-end delivery, coordinating across internal technology teams, business stakeholders, and multiple external vendors to successfully complete the final upgrade by November 2026.This position requires deep experience managing complex, multi-version application upgrades, strong technical acumen, and exceptional stakeholder and vendor management skills within a regulated, enterprise environment. Top Required Skills Proven Experience Leading Complex Tier 1 Application Upgrades End-to-end ownership of upgrades where applications were multiple versions behindExperience with phased upgrade strategies (in-place and/or parallel)Cutover planning, runbooks, rollback strategies, and post-upgrade stabilizationManaging EOL/EOS version remediation and risk mitigation Technical Project Management Expertise Strong technical experience (not solely a business PM)Ability to translate architecture, integration, and infrastructure constraints into executable plansHands-on collaboration with application development, infrastructure, QA, security, and operations teamsExperience running defect triage, environment readiness planning, and release coordination Vendor & Stakeholder Management Proven experience managing multiple external vendors simultaneouslyOversight of SOWs, SLAs, deliverables, and dependenciesIssue escalation and executive-level communicationCoordination across software publishers, system integrators, and internal teams Risk, Compliance, and Change Control Experience operating in regulated environmentsStrong risk and issue management disciplineFamiliarity with formal change control processes (e.g., CAB)Alignment with security, audit, and compliance requirements for Tier 1 systems Planning, Delivery, and Executive Reporting Ability to build and maintain integrated project schedulesDependency management and milestone forecastingClear, concise executive-level status reporting with actionable risk narratives Nice-to-Have Qualifications Experience with ECM or content management workflow platforms (e.g., Application Extender or similar)Experience in financial services or credit union environmentsCertifications such as PMP, PgMP, Agile (SAFe/CSM), or ITILKey Responsibilities Project Delivery & Planning Lead the end-to-end upgrade of a Tier 1 Application Extender / content management workflow systemDevelop and maintain a comprehensive project plan, including milestones, dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies through November 2026Manage phased upgrades, regression testing cycles, cutover planning, and post-deployment stabilizationEnsure alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, and change management processes Technical Project Management Partner closely with application development, infrastructure, security, QA, and operations teamsTranslate technical concepts into clear, actionable plans for business stakeholdersIdentify and manage risks related to legacy systems, version gaps, integrations, and vendor dependenciesEnsure completion of required documentation, testing artifacts, and validation deliverables Stakeholder & Vendor Management Act as the primary point of contact for multiple external vendorsLead vendor planning sessions and track deliverables and SLAsCommunicate project status, risks, and decisions to executive sponsors and technology leadershipFacilitate governance meetings, steering committees, and cross-functional working sessions Financial & Operational Management Track project budgets, forecasts, and vendor invoicesManage scope, change requests, and prioritizationEnsure delivery remains on time, on budget, and aligned with operational and compliance standards Required Qualifications Core Experience Demonstrated success delivering enterprise technology initiativesProven experience leading large-scale application upgrades, especially multi-version upgradesExperience managing Tier 1 or mission-critical systems with high availability requirementsAbility to manage long-term, multi-year projects with fixed deadlines Technical Expertise Strong experience as a Technical Project ManagerHands-on experience with:Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systemsWorkflow or Application Extender platformsComplex integrations and data dependenciesSolid understanding of:SDLC and release managementInfrastructure and application architectureTesting, deployment, and cutover strategies Methodologies & Tools Experience with Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall delivery modelsProficiency with enterprise PM tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similarAbility to create detailed schedules, RAID logs, and executive-level reportingKey CompetenciesStrong leadership and accountability in complex environmentsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHigh attention to detail with a strategic mindsetAbility to manage ambiguity and legacy system constraintsCalm, structured approach to risk and issue management Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tukwila, WA.
