Legal Assistant - Litigation & Trial
DescriptionThe Legal Assistant - Litigation & Trial supports the litigation and trial attorneys with case preparation, including document drafting, legal research, and trial preparation. Responsibilities include coordinating schedules for depositions and hearings, preparing legal documents, and assisting with trial exhibits. Strong organizational and communication skills, along with experience in litigation, are essential. The position manages multiple tasks to meet deadlines and maintains confidentiality in a fast-paced legal environment.Leadership Responsibilities:Demonstrates personal accountabilityContributes towards the success of othersUpholds the Firm's Core Values: We Care, Humble Excellence, Collaborative Attitude, Challenge AcceptanceNo direct supervision responsibilitiesEssential Duties/Responsibilities:Assists attorneys with preparing for trial, including organizing case files, discovery documents, and evidence.Drafts, reviews, and files legal documents such as complaints, motions, subpoenas, and discovery responses.Manages case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.Coordinates and schedules depositions, hearings, and other meetings with clients, witnesses, and experts.Prepares exhibits, trial notebooks, and other materials for trial.Conducts legal research using online databases such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.Assists with drafting and filing court documents within deadlines.Communicates with clients, opposing counsel, and experts to gather and relay information.Maintains a calendar of critical deadlines, court dates, and appointments for attorneys.Assists in preparing trial strategies, including witness lists, evidence lists, and trial exhibits.Maintains confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.Performs administrative duties such as answering phone calls, handling correspondence, and filing.Required Skills/Abilities:Highly organized with excellent follow-up skillsAbility to professionally multi-task and meet multiple deadlines simultaneouslyRespectful, confidential, and provides a trustworthy source for clients, vendors, and coworkersReliable and dependable in performing job-related tasks, finishing assigned projects, meeting deadlines and appointmentsStrong attention to detail and accuracySelf-motivated and driven to begin and complete tasksEducation and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent education requiredTwo years of experience in legal office work preferredProficient in Microsoft Office Products as applicableAbility to communicate effectively in English orally and in writingPhysical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at timesThe above statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by team members assigned to this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
