DHR Health - US:TX:Edinburg - DaysSummary:The dialysis nurse is responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating the nursing care of patients receiving chronic and acute hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of accredited school of nursing requiredBachelor's degree in Nursing preferredCurrent registered nurses license in the State of Texas or Compact State License requiredCurrent BLS certification from The American Heart Association.ACLS certification within 6 months of hirePrefer national certification and/or professional organization membershipComputer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.Good written and verbal communication skills required.Some evening or weekend work will be requiredBilingual - English/Spanish.Responsibilities:Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices.Primes dialyzer and bloodlinesRecords patients' medical information and vital signsReadies dialysis equipmentOversees the dialysis treatment from start to finishCannulates accessesDemonstrates the ability to remove femoral shealths & administer medications, including thrombolyticsCleans and dresses permanent and temporary cathetersMonitors patient and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and recordsIdentifies irregular dialysis reactions and notifies appropriate medical team membersSecures blood worksTeaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication, if neededMaintains medical inventoryProvides pre- and post procedure care to patients within the Hemodialysis UnitPerforms other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment settingOther duties as assigned.Other information:JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:Minimum of one (1) year Dialysis nurse experienceSkill in establishing a balanced perspective on mission effectiveness and business results is critical.Knowledge of State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations.LINES OF REPSONSIBILITES:(Chain-of-command)1.
