Interim Emergency Department Nurse Manager
Reid & Associates is partnering with a confidential acute care hospital to identify an experienced Interim Emergency Department Nurse Manager to provide operational leadership and stabilize Emergency Department performance during a transition period. This role focuses on strengthening patient flow, reinforcing clinical standards, and ensuring consistent execution across shifts in a rural acute care environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day operational leadership of the Emergency Department. Standardize patient flow and throughput practices, including direct-to-bed processes. Align physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to a consistent operating model. Support charge nurse development and reinforce accountability across shifts. Monitor quality and operational metrics to improve efficiency and patient experience. Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Participate in performance improvement initiatives and support departmental stabilization.Required Skills & ExpertiseStrong Emergency Department clinical background with knowledge of patient safety practices, regulatory standards, and acute care operations. Demonstrated ability to improve operational consistency and drive performance. Comfortable holding staff and providers accountable in a collaborative environment. Experience in rural or small acute care hospitals preferred. Ability to work independently in an interim setting with minimal onboarding.Education & ExperienceGraduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN required; MSN preferred. Minimum of five years of Emergency Department leadership experience in an acute care hospital. Rural hospital or Critical Access experience strongly preferred.CertificationsBLS required. ACLS and PALS required as applicable to facility standards.Assignment DetailsInterim / Contract position. Competitive interim compensation. Housing assistance and travel stipend provided.
