Join us in making a positive impact on healthcare delivery as we strive for excellence in patient service.Overview:As a Medical Assistant at Hometown Urgent Care, you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare delivery by assisting healthcare professionals in various clinical and administrative tasks. Your contribution will be vital in ensuring the safety, welfare, and comfort of our patients. Please note this is a PRN position with focus on weekends and as needed coverage between our Massillon, N. Canton and Wooster Clinics. Duties:Responsible for taking patient history and obtain vital signsPerform basic testing or screenings such as: vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testingPerform necessary phlebotomy for collection of laboratory samplesAccurately complete corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue, and culture samplesAble to perform subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections and accurately complete paperwork according to policy for that procedurePerform point of care testing such as: strep, mono, glucose, influenza, Urine pregnancy, Urinalysis, blood glucose levelsDispense and document medications and other treatment modalitiesInsure sterile technique, instrument cleaning and sterilization, proper use of the autoclaveSchedule and coordinate necessary records for ancillary care for patientsAssist providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D's and splinting/ ortho-glass preparationPerform occupational medicine testing such as: urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, audiogram, and DOT physicalsMaintain confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA)Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to managerLogs laboratory procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directedResponsible for patient call backs, scheduling physician referrals; specialist's referrals and pharmacy issues; and patient's educationMaintains examination rooms, sterilization of equipment and stocks necessary medical suppliesPerforms duties to ensure good patient flowRegistration duties: explain to patients' accepted insurances and those out of network and knowledgeable of all pricing. Properly collect and record payments, complete registration screen in a timely mannerTravel to care centers within designated regionProtects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal informationCleans and stocks the site with other members of the teamTraining other team membersAdditional job responsibilities may be assignedRequirements1-2 years previous experience working in a physician practice or clinic setting is preferredBasic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)Ability to function independently without close supervision, and to consistently exercise discretion and the highest level of good clinical and other professional judgmentAbility to complete and maintain CPR certificationBenefits401(k)401(k) matching
