Courses PHIL100 – Introduction to Philosophy: literature, problems, and methods of philosophy. Emphasis on awareness of philosophical problems and offering rationally justifiable solutions.
PHIL140 – Introduction to Moral Philosophy and Ethical Reasoning: foundational theories of Eastern and Western moral philosophy and methods for thinking about ethical issues. Apply to address contemporary ethical dilemmas in business, medicine, IT, and personal ethics.
PHIL304 – Contemporary Social Justice Issues: political and ethical writings that shape contemporary ideas of social justice. Evaluate political theories and defend ethical reasoning on issues such as environmental, health, racial, women’s, immigration, and religious justice.
HUMN344 – Technology and Culture: interdisciplinary survey of technology’s impact on human culture. Evaluate influence on human experience and communicate results in writing and oral presentation.
HUMN351 – Myth in the World: interdisciplinary survey of myths worldwide. Evaluate influences on culture and society; develop critical reflection and communicate impact on material and non‑material culture.
Responsibilities Actively engage students with frequent interaction that motivates success and conveys enthusiasm for learning.
Guide students in active collaboration and application of learning in problem‑ and project‑based demonstrations.
Provide rich, constructive feedback using rubrics for assessment and acknowledging student accomplishments.
Demonstrate relevant, current subject‑matter expertise and help students connect concepts across their program.
Offer feedback to the program chair on potential curricular improvements.
Qualifications Master’s degree in Philosophy, Humanities or related field from an accredited institution.
Professional experience in ethics teaching or a related field.
Experience teaching adult learners online in higher education is highly preferred.
Terminal degree preferred.
International degrees may require a translation/degree evaluation from a NACES approved vendor.

Compensation & Benefits Salary commensurate with experience; per credit hour ranges: Instructor (no terminal degree): $806–$1,050
Assistant Adjunct Professor (no terminal degree): $877–$1,127
Assistant Adjunct Professor (terminal degree): $1,023–$1,288
Associate Adjunct Professor (no terminal degree): $947–$1,205
Associate Adjunct Professor (terminal degree): $1,202–$1,483
Adjunct Professor (no terminal degree): $1,023–$1,288
Adjunct Professor (terminal degree): $1,347–$1,645
