Court Attorney - Ex Parte Motion Office
The New York State Unified Court System is seeking a Principal Court Attorney in New York County Supreme Court - Civil Term that will be assigned to the Ex-Parte Motion Office- Mental Hygiene Division. Principal Court Attorneys serve in a confidential capacity and are responsible for overseeing the operations of special parts, terms or departments in courts with a service population exceeding 400,000.Key Responsibilities: Assisting with the formulation, implementation, and maintenance of administrative and substantive policies relating to Mental Hygiene cases.Training court staff and providing recommendations to judges and court clerks to improve the operations and functions of the Mental Hygiene Division.Researching and analyzing complex legal questions and issues related to these matters.Serving as a liaison among hospital attorneys, court attorneys, judges, and court clerical staff.Coordinating with hospital and patient attorneys regarding priority case lists.Identifying and resolving discrepancies that may arise in orders or applications.Qualifications: Admission to the New York State Bar; and Three (3) years of service in the Associate Court Attorney title; or Eight (8) years of relevant legal experience gained after admission to the New York State Bar.The position also requires working effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while maintaining current knowledge and a strong understanding of Mental Hygiene Law Article 9, Criminal Procedure Law Article 330.20, and TB matters.Base Salary: $130,061 + $4,920 Location PayPlease view the full employment announcement at: 23617_principal_court_attorney.pdf
