Team members work closely with development teams, joint venture partners, and leadership to ensure financial integrity and support successful project execution.Why This Role MattersProvides accounting, budget, and financial reporting for RGDC's development entities. Extensive general ledger account analyses and all other accounting procedures in order to produce timely and accurate financial statements.What You’ll DoGeneral Accounting & Financial ReportingPrepares and inputs monthly journal entries into Yardi general ledger system Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheet and cash flow statements Assists with the preparation and distribution of monthly financial reports for development companies internally and to external partners Performs special analytical and accounting studies as assigned Performs other duties as assigned Cost Tracking, Budgeting & ReconciliationAssists in the proper coding of invoices to ensure expenditures are reflected in the correct general ledger accounts Assists in the proper coding of invoices, including analysis and reconciliation to ensure expenditures are reflected in the correct general ledger accounts Tracks costs against Investment Committee approved budgets Reconciles costs on Development Project Cost System to general ledger Reconciles intercompany balances and transactions Prepares monthly bank reconciliations. Works with Transaction Services to clear all reconciling items on a timely basis Construction Funding & Loan DrawsProcesses funding requests and draw requests for projects with construction loans Works with project accountant to ensure complete and timely loan draws are prepared and vendors are paid in a timely manner Reviews JV funding requests and draw requests for projects with construction loans for completeness and accuracy Audit, Compliance & TransactionsAssists internal and external auditors with annual and all interim audits. Prepares supporting schedules required by auditors Assists with any audits of construction costs Assists with the transaction closing process, review settlement statements for purchases and sales, prepares opening entries/gain on sale calculations Cross-Functional & Partner CoordinationInteracts with general accounting personnel and the development teams across the various regions Interacts with joint venture partners to ensure information received is accurate and proper accounting principles are followed Enhances professional and personal development What We’re Looking ForEducationBachelor’s Degree Required Preferred field of education: Accounting Experience / Knowledge / Skills0-2 years experience in the accounting field. Public accounting experience preferred Familiar with US GAAP preferred Computer literacy required, including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet programs in Windows environment. Proficiency with Excel and Word required Knowledge of Yardi accounting software preferred but not required Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from internal and external sources Ability to read, write and thoroughly understand and apply financial data Ability to effectively present financial information to management and employees in written and verbal format Writing skills are very important Ability to work long, irregular hours as necessary Licenses & CertificationsMeets educational requirements to sit for CPA exam, preferred
