Tax Manager
Job Title: Tax Manager Department: FinanceLocation: Turlock, CAFull/Part-Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: RegularFLSA Status: Salary (Exempt) Shift: Day Salary Range: $108,318 to $150,000 per year.SUMMARYReporting to the CFO. The Tax Manager is responsible for managing and executing all tax-related matters for Associated Feed & Supply Co. and related entities. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, supports tax planning initiatives, and partners closely with finance, operations, and external advisors. The position is based in the Turlock office and requires regular in‐person collaboration with the finance team.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEssential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:Tax Compliance & Reporting Manage preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns for multiple legal entities (partnerships, LLCs, corporations).Oversee sales and use tax, property tax, payroll tax, and other indirect tax filings.Ensure timely and accurate tax payments, extensions, and required disclosures.Coordinate responses to tax notices, audits, and information requests from taxing authorities.Tax Provision & Financial Reporting Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with GAAP.Reconcile tax accounts and support financial statement audits.Maintain accurate tax workpapers and documentation.Tax Planning & Advisory Support tax planning related to business operations, capital investments, asset sales, and acquisitions.Analyze tax implications of intercompany transactions and entity structuring.Partner with the CFO and external tax advisors on strategic initiatives and compliance risk management.Process Improvement & Systems Improve tax processes, controls, and documentation to support a growing, multi‐entity organization.Assist with ERP and system initiatives impacting tax reporting and compliance.Maintain tax calendars and internal controls related to tax processes.Cross‐Functional Support Work closely with accounting, treasury, payroll, and operations teams to ensure accurate tax data.Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on tax-related questions and compliance requirements.Support special projects as assigned by the CFO.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Perform related duties and/or special projects as assignedQUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of: Progressive taxPublic accountingCorporate taxStrong working knowledge of federal and state income taxation and indirect taxes.Ability to: Work effectively on‐site in a collaborative office environment.Operate in a multi‐entity environment.Have strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.Minimum Job Requirements, Experience and Training Guidelines: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5+ years of progressive tax experience, including public accounting and/or corporate tax.Preferred: CPA or MSTExperience in agriculture, manufacturing, distribution, or closely related industries.Familiarity with ERP systems and tax process automation.Experience coordinating with external tax advisors and auditors.SPECIAL DEMANDSPhysical requirements: Frequent use of keyboard; frequent sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending or squattingConstant use of overall vision; frequent reading and close-up workFrequent repetitive motion; frequent writing, grasping, holding and reachingFrequent hearing and talking in person and on the phoneFrequent decision-making and concentration; frequent employee contactWORKING CONDITIONSRole is on‐site in Turlock, CA; this is not a remote position.
