The individual will work under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor. Core responsibility is to cover events for the district. When events are at a minimum, employee will perform other duties such as window cleaning, dusting, pressure washing, change light lamps, clean parking lots, moving of surplus, painting, weeding, trimming of plants and shrubs, assist in other duties as needed.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe statements contained herein reflect general duties to describe the primary functions of this position and should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements.Working from a prepared work schedule, sweep, scrub, wax, polish concrete, linoleum, tile and wood floors and vacuums rugs and carpets in offices, nurses and faculty rooms, classrooms, shop buildings, gymnasiums, libraries, recreation rooms, cafeterias, hallways and stairways.Use non-hazardous chemical products and/or pesticides.Clean and dust walls, furniture, woodwork, hall lockers and other equipment.Pick up paper and other refuse on grounds and sweep walks and entrances.Wash, scrub and disinfect restrooms.Clean windows, door glass and drinking fountains.Clean and polish metal work such as door panels and hand railings.Empty and clean waste containers.Assist in moving or rearranging chairs, tables, desks, furniture, and other equipment.Replace light globes.Make minor repairs or adjustments.Maintain equipment used in the course of work.Perform special custodial work.Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards.Assist in the restoration of buildings and grounds during summer vacation.Perform heavy manual tasks, including lifting and carrying 50 pounds on a regular basis and 75-80 pounds occasionally.Ensure that custodial job responsibilities are fulfilled in accordance with the district "Custodial Services Handbook". Report any irregularities, deficiencies, or concerns/issues to the maintenance supervisor,as soon as possible, for guidance regarding corrective measures. * Maintain cleanliness of building and campus in all respects. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor.Required Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesAbility to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, 75 - 80 pounds occasionally.Ability to stoop and bend.Ability to climb to the height of fifteen (15) feet.Ability to climb ladders to reach roofs, attics, etc.Ability to communicate effectively with staff to achieve a safe and comfortable work environment and meet the goals and objectives of the District.Possess and maintain licenses and special endorsements as may be required by the employer.Ability to perform physical labor for up to an eight-hour shift.Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.Ability to problem solve.Ability to work with little or no supervision.Ability to understand and follow a work schedule.Knowledge of current school district cleaning standards (preferred).Work Skills Assessments: Achieve minimum acceptable levels/scores in reading, writing, math, and technology assessments.Minimum QualificationsPrior work experience as a custodian in a school district setting (preferred).Required Licenses/Special RequirementsPossess and maintain licenses and special endorsements as may be required by the employer.High School diploma or equivalent.Valid Washington State driver's license/reliable transportation.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTWork Year: 260 days per year (includes paid holidays)Paid Hours: Eight (8.0) hours paid per day plus 30-minute duty free lunchSchedule*: Wednesday - Friday 2:30 pm - 11:00 pmSaturday - Sunday 8:00 am - 4:30 pmSchedule subject to change with ample noticePay Rate: 2024-25 PSE Salary Schedule AStadium/Grounds Custodian $25.63 - $27.92 (DOE)BenefitsEligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours an employee is anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31).
