Job DescriptionSoftware Engineer - R&DLocation: Mountain View, CA HybridEngineering & TechnologyAbout The RoleWe are seeking a Software Engineer for our R&D team at Commure, responsible for taking emerging technology from inception to impact. You will scout new capabilities (frontier LLMs, browser agents, self-improving agent harnesses) and productionize them for healthcare. The full arc includes research, productization, delivery to customers, and ownership until graduation.What You'll DoBuild infrastructure that orchestrates, evaluates, and runs sub-agents, including channel adapters for intelligence flowWork with cutting-edge technology: chain tool calls across LLMs, deploy browser agents, build self-improving harnesses, and turn prototypes into production toolsTake technology from first principles to production: research, build into a product, ship to customers, and own through graduationEstablish best practices for code quality, testing, deployment, and observabilityCollaborate with product managers, designers, and clinical experts to ship intuitive solutions for real clinical environmentsWhat You HaveBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experienceProfessional software engineering experience (high-growth or startup environment preferred)Strong fullstack skills: Python (required) on backend, JavaScript/React on frontend, Docker and Kubernetes knowledgeHands-on experience integrating LLM APIs or building AI-powered features in productionTrack record of driving work from early ideation to successful production deploymentStrong debugging and problem-solving skills with demonstrated resourcefulnessStrong communication skills – comfortable with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders (including clinical teams)Experience in fast-moving environments where shipping quickly is the normCompensation$130K - $180KIndustrial & Product DesignAdditional NotesOfficial communication only from @getathelas.com, @commure.com, or @augmedix.com email addresses.
