Title: Data EngineerLocation: New York, NY - Hybrid 3x per weekClient: Leading US financial markets operator and data services companyRole: A well-established financial markets company is looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to join their IT Infrastructure team. This is a 50/50 role - you'll own and maintain a large-scale on-prem data warehouse (~10TB, ~100 ETL jobs) while simultaneously helping architect and build out a modern cloud-based data lakehouse. This isn't a pure maintenance gig - there's real opportunity to shape the direction of the data platform and leave a mark on the architecture. Lots of hands-on development, new feature builds, and collaboration with data analysts who depend on the pipelines you own.Must-Have Skills5+ years of professional experienceHeavy SQL development - tuning, stored procedures, schema/database designETL pipeline experience - building, optimizing, and maintaining at scaleAWS (Athena, S3) - primary cloud platformRelational database experience - Informix, Postgres, or MySQLScripting - Python, Bash, or ShellComfortable working in both on-prem and cloud environmentsBachelor's Degree in Computer SciencePlusesFinancial services or fintech backgroundExperience with cloud data lakehouse migrationsFamiliarity with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, etc.)CompensationBase up to $150k depending on experience~20% discretionary annual bonusEquityFor additional information or to apply, please contact Bethany at bmoulthrop@talener.com
