DOES NOT OFFER RELOCATION.Position: Laboratory Technician Reports to: La ManagerLocation: Pasadena, TX FLSA: Exempt Hours: M-F; DaysWho we are: One of the largest producers of bulk synthetic grade granular ammonium sulfate in the world, all products are produced to consistent material specifications and reliable quality to exceed the industry standard.Position Summary: The Lab Technician is responsible for conducting chemical, physical, and analytical tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and industry regulations. This position plays a critical role in supporting production, ensuring quality control, and maintaining compliance with safety and environmental standards in a chemical manufacturing environment. This is currently days only shift.Key Responsibilities:Perform routine and non-routine laboratory tests using wet chemistry and instrumental methods (e.g., ICP, titrations, pH meters).Analyze samples of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.Record, interpret, and communicate test results accurately and in a timely manner.Calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.Prepare chemical solutions and reagents according to precise formulas and SOPs.Use computers to maintain detailed and organized records, including test logs, lab notebooks, and electronic data systems. Use Excel and Word to maintain records.Support production and engineering teams by providing timely feedback on material quality.Assist in investigations of non-conforming products and process deviations.Comply with safety policies, chemical hygiene standards, and environmental regulations.Participate in audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional projects.Interpret analytical data and draw scientific conclusionsDevelop testing methodologies and validation protocolsEvaluate chemical reactions and material propertiesTroubleshoot experimental or production issues using scientific principlesQualifications:Associate or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.3-5 years of experience in an industrial, chemical, or manufacturing lab preferred.Proficiency in analytical instrumentation and basic lab techniques.Attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures and protocols.Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Strong understanding of laboratory safety practices and quality systems (e.g., ISO, GMP).Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, or overtime as required.Current TWIC card requiredWork Environment & Physical Demands:Regular exposure to chemical substances and lab equipment.Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including lab coats, gloves, and safety glasses.Standing, walking, and manual dexterity required for extended periods.Occasionally required to lift containers up to 50 pounds.Equal Opportunity Employer:PCI Nitrogen is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
