Incumbents in the Paraprofessional position are responsible for providing assistance to students and staff as indicated in the duties below related the individual’s assignment.Essential DutiesAssists the teacher in the preparation of educational materials for students.Works individually with students and/or in small groups to help reinforce learning objectives. Assists with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, and grading quizzes as assigned.Participates in lunchroom, recess, hall-monitoring, and bus duties.Assists with preparing and maintaining bulletin boards and other learning centers areas for instruction.Participates in required additional training related to the Dual Immersion Model if applicablePerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.Required EducationHigh School Diploma or GED requiredMust pass the GACE para assessment; in lieu of the GACE Assessment and have 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of a grade of C or better; hold an Associate's Degree or higher at a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution is acceptableCertification/LicensureMust be able to obtain Georgia PSC Paraprofessional CertificateExperience Qualifications0 – 1 year experience requiredKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesClassroom experience and/or proven ability to work with children preferredMust be able to follow written and oral instructions quickly and accuratelyMust be able to handle sensitive and confidential informationExcellent communication skills (written and verbal) with students and adultsExcellent organizational skills and flexibilityIf working as a Paraprofessional in the Dual Immersion program, should exhibit proficiency in spoken and written language of instructionWorking ConditionsClassroom environmentPhysical DemandsAbility to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistanceAbility to push or pull a maximum of 50 poundsMay require lifting, bending kneeling, reaching, stooping or crouchingRequires ability to move and control an adult-sized wheelchairTypically sitting, standing, walkingPosting ID: 34362It is the policy of the Fulton County School System not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, or disability in any employment practice, educational program, or any other program, activity, or service.
