Laser Operator - Structural & Plate Steel Peoplelink Staffing Solutions in partnership with a prominent client in Livonia, MI within the Steel Product Manufacturing industry. Laser Operator Job Summary: $20-$22/hour based on experience. 1 st Shift 6AM-2:30/4:30PM Monday-Friday, overtime on Saturday as necessary. Set up and operate an Amada Tube/Plate Laser to cut structural and plate steel components. Load, position, and secure raw materials for laser cutting operations. Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and cut specifications. Perform machine setup, program verification, and adjustments based on material type and thickness. Monitor laser cutting operations to ensure quality, accuracy, and efficiency. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications. Remove finished parts, perform basic deburring, and identify any defects. Safely handle raw materials and finished products. Wear properly fitted PPE, including but not limited to gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection. Work in an efficient, safe, and productive manner. Safely operate equipment such as cranes, fork trucks, grinders, and laser cutting machines. Maintain, support, and follow all standards as specified in the Quality Management System. Provide support to other employees on essential job functions when required. Maintain a clean and organized workspace and maintain shop floor organization and cleanliness as directed by management. Engage in other related duties and responsibilities as directed by management. Laser Operator Qualifications: 1-2 years of laser cutting experience in a steel or metal fabrication environment required. Experience operating Amada Tube and/or Plate Laser systems preferred. Ability to read blueprints, tape measures, and calipers. Basic understanding of steel materials, gauges, and cutting tolerances. Basic computer skills for machine operation and program navigation. Must have steel or composite toe boots/shoes. Must have reliable transportation. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Must demonstrate and maintain a courteous and professional attitude.
