CNAs help patients with activities of daily living, monitor patient conditions, and ensure comfort and safety. They work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and play an important role in supporting patient care in hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities. Key Responsibilities Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating. Help patients move, transfer, or reposition in bed or wheelchairs. Measure and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure. Observe and report changes in patient health or behavior to nurses. Assist patients with toileting and maintaining personal hygiene. Serve meals and assist patients with feeding if needed. Maintain a clean and safe patient environment. Document patient care activities according to facility guidelines. Provide emotional support and companionship to patients. Follow infection control and safety procedures. Requirements Education High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant training program . Certification Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification . Must be listed in the state Nurse Aide Registry . Experience Previous CNA or patient care experience preferred but not always required.
