As a Senior Backend Software Engineer in Ad Engineering at Philo, you will help shape the next generation of our SSAI and ad-tech stack. You’ll lead technical initiatives across distributed, cloud-based infrastructure to deliver scalable, privacy-conscious ad experiences at large scale. You’ll collaborate with ad operations, data science, and partner teams to optimize ad delivery and measurement. This role offers impact in redefining TV advertising within a fast-growing OTT platform and requires hands-on leadership in engineering and integration with partners. Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, deploy, and monitor SSAI services
- Collaborate with ad ecosystem partners to build ad tech products
- Work with video delivery, ad ops, and data science teams to optimize ad delivery and user experience
- Build scalable data pipelines for ad creatives and measurement events
- Improve reliability, performance, accuracy, and security of ad services
- Implement identity solutions for ad targeting and measurement
- Interface with standards bodies (IAB, MRC) for certifications and compliance
- Build tools to monitor and troubleshoot ad delivery issues
Key requirements:
- 8+ years of software development experience
- Experience with SSAI and MPEG-DASH or HLSKnowledge of VAST, VMAP, OpenRTB, and header bidding
- Experience with ad servers, DSPs or SSPs and targeting capabilities xaygatp Familiarity with programmatic advertising platforms (Publica, Freewheel, Google Ad Exchange, Amazon APS)
- Proficiency in Golang, Java, C++ or similar languages
- Experience operating in cloud environments with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience working with large data sets and modern data warehousing/ querying
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder communication skills
- Language-agnostic backend with emphasis on scalable systemscollaborationcommunicationdata-driven decision making
