Position Title: Senior Python Developer – AL/ML
Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 3-6 months contract to hire
Experience & Skills 10+ years of professional software development experience, including 7+ years of advanced Python development using object-oriented design, design patterns, API development, asynchronous processing, testing, packaging, debugging, and performance optimization.3–4+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, training, evaluating, deploying, and monitoring machine learning, natural language processing, generative AI, or agentic AI solutions.3+ years of experience developing AI agents or intelligent applications using LLMs or SLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt orchestration, embeddings, vector search, tool calling, memory, guardrails, and model evaluation.4+ years of experience building cloud-based data or application solutions on Azure, including 3+ years with Azure Databricks or a comparable enterprise Lakehouse platform.5+ years of experience with Apache Spark, Delta Lake, batch and streaming data pipelines, distributed processing, data modeling, and Lakehouse architecture. Strong experience with ML algorithms, feature engineering, model selection, hyperparameter tuning, experiment design, validation, explainability, drift detection, and production model monitoring. Demonstrated experience processing structured and unstructured data, including documents, text, JSON, APIs, event streams, and large-scale datasets. Strong knowledge of Azure identity, security, networking, storage, secrets management, deployment, monitoring, and cost optimization concepts. Advanced proficiency with Git, CI/CD, automated unit and integration testing, code quality controls, code reviews, branching strategies, and agile delivery practices. Experience with containerization, RESTful and event-driven architectures, microservices, caching, messaging, and scalable application integration patterns. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex data, model, performance, integration, and application issues across development and production environments. Strong technical leadership, communication, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work across engineering, architecture, clinical, security, and business teams. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
4+ years of experience building, fine-tuning, distilling, evaluating, or deploying SLMs or language models for medical record parsing, clinical document review, summarization, coding support, or structured data extraction. Experience with medical terminology, healthcare payer data, clinical coding systems, or interoperability standards such as ICD, CPT, HCPCS, LOINC, SNOMED CT, and HL7 FHIR.Advanced experience with MLflow, Databricks Model Serving, Mosaic AI capabilities, feature engineering, model registry, model monitoring, or comparable MLOps platforms. Experience with AI agent frameworks, multi-agent patterns, evaluation frameworks, guardrails, observability, and enterprise AI governance. Familiarity with HIPAA-aligned engineering, PHI handling, data de-identification, model risk management, and responsible AI controls. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, Terraform, or similar deployment and infrastructure automation tools. Experience leading technical designs, mentoring engineers, defining development standards, and delivering production AI/ML solutions in a regulated enterprise environment.
