This role involves overseeing a unit with five labor and delivery rooms, 15 postpartum beds, and a level 2 nursery (NICU). The Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, maintaining adequate staffing, managing supplies and equipment, and optimizing patient throughput. Additional duties include developing and managing the department's budget, driving continuous quality and performance improvements, promoting professional growth among staff, and ensuring the completion of annual competencies. The Director will report key information to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and collaborate with other senior leaders. Key Responsibilities: Direct and oversee the operations of the OB unit, including maintaining compliance with established policies and ensuring safe and effective staffing levels. Manage the procurement and availability of necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring efficient patient throughput. Develop and manage the departmental budget, aligning with financial goals and objectives. Implement and monitor ongoing quality and performance improvement initiatives. Invest in the professional development of staff, fostering a culture of lifelong learning and ensuring that all annual competencies are met. Serve as a key communicator, relaying important updates and information to the CNO and senior leadership as necessary. Candidate Profile: Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree being preferred. A minimum of two years of experience at the Director level is required, along with an active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state. Knowledge of community hospitals and the midwifery model is a plus, as is experience with level 2 nurseries or NICUs.
