Staff Engineer - Aerospace Thermal & Controls Integration Leader

Job Description SummaryIn Advanced Demonstrators, you will work within the Commercial Engine Project & Engineering teams to launch GE’s next generation of products. Advanced Demonstrators is accountable for functional, business, and broad company objectives as they relate to the successful execution of advanced engine demonstrator programs (such as the CFM Hydrogen Demonstrator) and other technical subjects. The role has a specific focus on Systems Engineering integration within the aero-thermal and controls disciplines, Systems Performance Operability and Transient. The role has high autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment and independent decision making.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesOwnership of Aero Thermal & Controls integration as well as coordination across global engineering discipline teams.Responsible for developing and managing cross functional, technology led program. Manages interfaces with contractors, suppliers, customers and internal functions. Manages program resource and budget allocation/integration in cooperation with program Operations. Influences the programs to meet customer CTQs.Uses judgment to make decisions or solve complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, technology, Aero Thermal & Controls, or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information working to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field and program scope.Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.Contributes to Weekly Operating Rhythm (WOR) and Monthly Operating Rhythm (MOR) metrices from multiple internal and external customer inputs.Coach, drive and lead lean behaviors, principles, and tools across an operational or functional area. Drive cultural transformation resulting in step-change in operational business metrics.Represent the program in front of both internal and external customers requiring strong communication, presentation, and interface skills to ensure accurate reception of messaging and status.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or collegeMinimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering within at least one discipline: Turbo Machinery Aero Dynamics, Thermal Systems, Controls & Engine Performance10 years in gas turbine engineeringPrior experience working with global cross-functional teamsDesired CharacteristicsMaster's degreeExperience in two or more disciplines: Turbo Machinery Aero Dynamics, Thermal Systems, Controls & Engine Performance.Excited about propulsion and sustainabilityStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsCommunicate and coordinate clearly with internal and external partnersCommunicate concisely and appropriately with both internal and external senior leadership teamsDemonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problemsDemonstrated ability to lead programs / projectsAbility to document, plan, market, and execute programsEstablished project management skillsPassionate about giving & receiving mentorshipAble to work both in a global team and individually10 - 15 years of experience in an Engineering positionAbility to guide and influence othersDemonstrated process orientation in approach to workDemonstrated ability to document, plan, market, and manage programsExposure to commercial engine design requirementsProblem analysis and resolution skillsExperience with SmartsheetThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
