Chief Administrative Officer (ADMIN MGR 1)

Under guidance of the Department Chair, provide leadership, oversight and management to a large, complex academic and research department including business and finance, extensive contract and grant administration, academic and staff human resources, teaching and instructional support, computer operations and support, self-supporting operations, space and research and teaching laboratory support needs. Actively encourage and participate in training and education of staff; implement team building with administrative staff and participate in management meetings with Department Chair and other supervisors/managers to discuss school or departmental issues, concerns and needs. Knowledge and experience performing and managing complex financial planning and budget analysis in the areas of contract and grant administration demonstrated through education or equivalent experience, knowledge of office and/or business administration.Supervisory experience and team building skills demonstrated through past performance to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, resolve problems/conflicts, conduct performance management, and build effective service-oriented, team environment.Knowledge and experience in the principles and practices of business management with skills to effectively and ethically manage, and oversee a complex academic operation in the areas of, space and facility requirements, information technology, and teaching/research laboratory needs.Knowledge and leadership skills to implement principles of performance management, multiculturalism and diversity, coaching skills to enhance staff contributions.Strategic planning, analytical and program evaluation skills to effectively provide sound recommendations, continually examine systems and develop or revise to accommodate change requirements.Skills to analyze complex information or problems in an objective manner and derive logical conclusions to provide a sound basis for establishing priorities, selecting appropriate courses of action for pursuit or recommendations to others, and to resolve conflicts.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in a high level administrative position within a university or similar environment.
