Senior QA Automation Engineer – Python/Pytest & API Automation

Genesis10 is currently seeking a QA Automation Engineer for a contract-to-hire position with a Regional Financial Institution located in Columbus, OH, Minnetonka, MN, or Dallas, TX. This role is onsite at one of those locations 4 days per week.Compensation: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour, W2, based on qualificationsPosition Overview:We are looking for an experienced QA Automation Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Python, Pytest, and API automation testing. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing requirements, developing and maintaining automation test scripts, executing functional and integration tests, analyzing failures, managing defects, and supporting software releases across the complete automation-testing lifecycle.Key Responsibilities:Analyze business, functional, and technical requirements and create appropriate test scenarios and test casesDesign, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Python and PytestDevelop and maintain reusable automation-framework components, fixtures, utilities, and test dataPerform REST API testing and automate API test casesValidate API requests, responses, status codes, headers, JSON/XML payloads, and error scenariosPerform functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testingTest APIs routed through an API gateway and validate integrations with downstream systemsValidate authentication and authorization scenarios, including OAuth, JWT, bearer tokens, and 401/403 responsesUse Postman or SoapUI for API testing and troubleshootingExecute automated test suites through Jenkins or another CI/CD platformGenerate and review automation reports using Allure, Pytest HTML, or a similar reporting toolPerform database validation using SQL queriesCreate and maintain test cases, test data, execution results, and supporting documentationIdentify, document, track, and retest defectsParticipate in requirement reviews, project meetings, defect-management meetings, and release activitiesSupport software releases, production validation, and post-deployment testingPrimary Requirements:Minimum 5+ years of hands-on automation-testing experienceStrong programming experience in PythonStrong hands-on experience with PytestExperience developing and maintaining automation frameworksStrong REST API testing and API automation experienceExperience using Python API-testing libraries such as requestsHands-on experience with Postman or SoapUIExperience with JSON and XML validationExperience with Jenkins or another CI/CD platformExperience with Allure, Pytest HTML, or another test-reporting toolExperience with API gateway and downstream-system integration testingKnowledge of authentication and authorization testingExperience with SQL and database validationExperience with Git or another source-control systemStrong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause-analysis skillsAbility to work independently and in a collaborative Agile environmentBachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experienceDesired Skills:Experience with JMeter or another performance-testing toolKnowledge of TDD or ATDD practicesExperience testing cloud-based or containerized applicationsExperience with microservices and complex system integrationsRelevant testing certifications are an added advantageOnly candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply!Ranked a Top Staffing Firm in the U.S. by Staffing Industry Analysts for six consecutive years, Genesis10 puts thousands of consultants and employees to work across the United States every year in contract, contract-for-hire, and permanent placement roles.
