In Addition, Specific Functions May Change From Time To Time:Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needsUses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient carePlans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient careFacilitates a safe environmentMaintains required competenciesFunctions as charge nurse as assignedMaintains an accurate and relevant record of patient careAdministers medication as ordered by physicianRecognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriatelyEstablishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staffMonitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicatorsActively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient servicesAdjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patientsSupports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimenOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education And Formal Training:Associates Degree in Nursing requiredBachelors Degree in Nursing preferredCurrent licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensureUnit Description:The Emergency Department (ED) provides high-quality, compassionate emergency care to patients presenting with a variety of acute medical, surgical, and traumatic conditionsThe unit consists of 12-22 treatment beds. We provide care across all phases of emergency service — triage, stabilization, treatment, and disposition (admission, transfer, or discharge)Our patient population includes pediatric, adult, and geriatric individuals, encompassing both low-acuity and high-acuity presentations. We are committed to delivering timely, patient-centered care in a community-focused environmentOur Care Team is composed of Registered Nurses, paramedics, certified nursing assistants, physicians, and advanced practice providers, all working collaboratively to provide safe, efficient, and quality careOur PCM, department educator, and Charge Nurses are available to support staff with education, clinical guidance, and access to policies, protocols, and resourcesOur electronic medical record system is EPICExperience in hospital and emergency settings preferredWeekend and holiday rotations are scheduled according to departmental needs and staffing guidelines.
