Job purposePrepare and serve meals for patients and staff from the prepared and approved menu.Ensures continual cleanliness and safety of work areas, storage areas, food service areasand equipment and utensils.Duties and responsibilities• Prepare meals and serve on-time daily.• Prepare snacks for patients daily.• Assure that special diets are offered to patients with "dietary restrictions," accordingthe QI standards.• Prepares foods from menus & recipes recommended or published by dieticians andother industry professionals.• Set up foods in service line/trays, maintaining proper servicing temperature 100% ofthe time.• Record temperatures of refrigerators / freezers daily.• Employ proper hand washing techniques 100% of the time.• Store foods according to industry protocol.• Implement all infection control processes 100% of the time.• Accept and put stock away.• Assure donated foods are picked up on-time.• Rotate stock as used.• Direct and monitor activity of patients or volunteers assigned to the kitchen area.• Follow all policies and procedures of the department and agency 100% of the time.• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and confidentiality of department andagency data.• Assist all customers with questions/comments by responding within (1) business day.• Maintain a positive score on the Patient Food Satisfaction Survey Report.• Attend all mandatory in-service trainings, regular departmental staff meetings, andother meetings as required.• Keep work area clean and neat.• Job duties may be increased, decreased, or combined as the needs of the agencydictate.QualificationsOne-year experience in volume cooking required, specifically in health care / socialservice setting.Competencies• Reporting- Reports unusual incidents through variance reporting to agencymanagement.• Infection Control- Maintains infection control standards by practicing universalprecautions.• HIPAA- Knowledge and ability to apply HIPAA laws and Federal Regulationsprotecting patient privacy and rights.• Patient Rights- Adheres to all patient rights standards as well as serves as aresource to patients regarding those rights.• Professional- Exhibits professional behaviors such as maintaining the CAT Codeof Ethics, working cooperatively with others following CAT personnel policesetc.• Adaptability- Adapts to change, open to new ideas and responsibilities.• Communication- Communicates well, delivers presentations, has good listeningskills.• Conflict Management- Good listener, committed to finding solution to problems,works well with difficult people.• Customer Service- Works well with customers, promotes a positive image of thecompany, strives to solve issues raised by customers.• Decision Making- Able to reach decisions, takes thoughtful approach whenconsidering options, seeks input from others, makes difficult decisions.• Dependability- Meets deadlines, works independently, accountable, maintainsfocus, punctual, good attendance record.• Ethics- Honest, accountable, maintains confidentiality.• Initiative- Takes action, seeks new opportunities, strives to see projects tocompletion.• Innovation- Creative, offers new ideas, risk taker, amenable to change.• Interpersonal Skills- Builds strong relationships, is flexible/adaptable, works wellwith others, solicits feedback.• Job Knowledge- Understands facets of job, aware of duties and responsibilities,keeps job knowledge current.• Organizational Skills- Information organized and accessible, maintains efficientworkspace, manages time well.• Problem Solving- Strives to understands contributing factors, works to resolvecomplex situations.• Product Expertise- Knowledgeable about CAT programs, services, history, andimpact in the community.• Productivity- Manages workload, works efficiently, meets goals and objectivesfor productivity.• Quality- Strives to eliminate errors, accurate work is a priority, seeksopportunities to improve product/services.• Self- Development- Looks for opportunities to increase knowledge, works toincrease responsibility, strives to achieve personal goals.• Strategic Thought- Works to establish and articulate vision, shows creativitywhen defining solutions.• Teamwork- Accountable to team, works to meet established deliverables,appreciates view of team members, respectful. Supervision occurs through the Patient SatisfactionSurvey results, weekly review of the Dietary Checklist, observation, and feedback fromstaff and patients.Work areas may have slippery floors, steamed hot air, chilled air, and may include openflame. Environment will contain sharp objects and utensils. Chemicals, seasonings, andallergens may present a hazard when proper kitchen protocol is not followed. Stain ofclothing may occur if protective gloves and apron are not donned at all times.Physical requirements• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to remain in astationary position for long periods of time or may need to move about for extendedperiods of time;• Position may require employee to have full range of motion and lift up to 50 lbs;• Position may require individual to communicate, converse and exchange informationwith others;• Position may require individual to perceive communications via email, phone or inperson;• Nothing in this job description restricts CAT rights to reassign or assign duties andresponsibilities and does not proscribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.Direct reports
