Senior Prevention/Intervention & Resource Specialist – Public HealthPart-Time (with Opportunity to Transition to Full-Time) Two Positions Available:Ben Hill, Crisp & Dougherty CountiesMetro Atlanta & Surrounding CountiesSTREET SMART YOUTH PROJECT (SSYP)Street Smart Youth Project (SSYP) is an innovative, community-rooted youth development organization specializing in evidence-based prevention and early intervention for under-resourced youth, young adults, and communities. SSYP centers qualitative learning, lived experience, and culturally responsive, relationship-based approaches in all programming.PROGRAM OVERVIEWSSYP delivers multiple youth development and public health initiatives aimed at increasing protective factors and reducing risk factors among under-resourced youth. Programs are evidence-based, trauma-informed, youth-driven, and designed to strengthen self-efficacy, life skills, leadership capacity, and overall well-being.POSITION SUMMARYThe Senior Prevention/Intervention & Resource Specialist will play a leadership role in the implementation of SSYP’s prevention, early intervention, and wellness services. This includes facilitating evidence-based interventions related to:Substance use preventionHIV/STD preventionTeen pregnancy preventionLife skills, leadership, and social-emotional developmentWellness and harm-reductionThis role requires leadership, creativity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trusting, authentic relationships with youth, families, and community stakeholders. Candidates must be drug and tobacco-free and able to model healthy behaviors.Two part-time positions are available, each with the potential to transition to full-time. A criminal background check is required.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESPublic Health & Program DeliveryImplement public health strategies using state and national strategic prevention framework models.Plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate public health interventions in sexual health, substance use prevention, and adolescent health.Facilitate or co-facilitate evidence-based programs with fidelity and cultural responsiveness.Evaluate program outcomes using assessments, surveys, focus groups, and both qualitative and quantitative data.Team Leadership & SupervisionSupervise and/or advise Prevention Specialists across assigned sites.Review program fidelity, quality, and participant experience to ensure high-impact delivery.Support Project Coordinators in maintaining adherence to policies, procedures, and evidence-based standards.Youth & Community EngagementRecruit participants and ensure a welcoming, safe, youth-centered environment.Conduct referrals and connect youth and families to appropriate community resources (housing, workforce, health, education, etc.).Provide outreach and youth development services in community-based settings.Support presentations, workshops, and community engagement efforts related to SSYP programming.Data, Reporting & OperationsCollect, analyze, and report data to strengthen program quality and inform public health messaging.Maintain accurate documentation and provide written summaries for program reports.Attend required on-site and off-site trainings, meetings, and professional development sessions.SKILLS & KNOWLEDGEMaster’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Work, Counseling, or related field with 2+ years of experience; or Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.Demonstrated experience working with under-resourced youth and young adults.Strong group facilitation skills with the ability to work independently and with accountability.Comfortable discussing sex, sexuality, harm reduction, and substance use without judgment.High energy, strong collaboration skills, and creative problem-solving abilities.Mature, patient, flexible, and able to maintain a sense of humor.Familiarity with the Stages of Change model, public health frameworks, and cognitive-behavioral approaches.Knowledge of community systems, including education, criminal justice, workforce, housing, and behavioral health.SELECTION REQUIREMENTSMaster’s degree (MPH preferred) with 2+ years of health education or public health experience; ORBachelor’s degree in a public health field with 4+ years of experience delivering health education or prevention programming.Familiarity with state-level strategic prevention frameworks and evidence-based intervention models.COMPENSATION & BENEFITSHourly Rate: $30–$40 per hour, based on education, experience, and demonstrated skillset.Full-Time Benefits (if position transitions):Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) planPaid time offIncentive-based compensation opportunitiesNational travel for professional development and trainingHOW TO APPLYInterested candidates should submit a résumé and a brief statement (up to 1,000 characters) describing their philosophy of public health interventions that support under-resourced youth.Email submissions to: info@streetsmartyouthproject.org ATTN: Public Health SearchDue to high application volume, only selected candidates will be contacted.
