Click here for more information on compensation for these roles.In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as: time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement.What You'll DoTroubleshoots, evaluates and identifies system functioning, attempts repair or refers repair to specialistPerforms pipefitting installation and repair work for variety of District HVAC systemsWelds or screws different types of pipe (e.g., fit screwed pipe) in systemSoft solder or silver solders copper materials/pipesFabricates, repairs, and installs HVAC system piping; rigging heavy loads and coordinating with other shop staffDiagnoses repairs; modifies and performs repairs using blueprints and schematics; and considering building codes (e.g., UBC) standardsDesigns and modifies existing District systemsPerforms work and cross trains in at least one other trade, as an apprenticeAssists with snow removal efforts on a 24 hour on-call basis and responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a weekCommunicates and coordinates with staff at work site and other shop staffPrepares and cleans up job site (e.g., erecting scaffolding), taking into consideration safety concerns of self and others (e.g., students, employees), and disposes of waste and flammable materials.Reviews work orders, prioritizes, and determine supplies for repair and purchases supplies using District purchase order systemUnder direction of L3 (Master or Multi-Skilled), may assist or perform the following functions: Bids on work requested by schools and prepares cost estimates; trains and mentors other shop staff; inspects work of independent contractors and identifies deficiencies; communicates with project manager about correcting deficiencies according to code (e.g., city, state) and DPS specificationsWhat You'll NeedL2: Four (4) years of experienceMust have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License and meet district insurability standards.Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
