Boiler Maker Superintendent

Job Description Job Title: Boilermaker Superintendent Reports To: Division Manager/Project Manager / Construction Manager Location: Gillette, Wyoming Department: Field Operations FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary: The Boilermaker Superintendent oversees boilermaker activities at refineries, power plants, and other industrial facilities. This position manages field crews to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of all boilermaker work in accordance with applicable standards, codes, and project specifications. Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership & Execution: - Supervise boilermaker crews at industrial sites such as refineries and power plants. - Coordinate work schedules, materials, and equipment for installation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and piping systems. - Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to direct construction activities accurately. Safety & Compliance: - Enforce safety regulations and conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and toolbox talks. - Ensure compliance with OSHA, ASME, site-specific, and industry safety standards. Quality & Productivity: - Monitor daily progress and enforce quality assurance measures. - Coordinate inspections and pressure testing with NDE specialists and quality teams. Team Management: - Supervise boilermaker foremen and journeymen. - Mentor team members and participate in hiring and training initiatives. - Resolve personnel issues and administer performance evaluations. Reporting & Documentation: - Maintain accurate daily logs, safety reports, and progress tracking. - Provide project updates and support scheduling and budgeting activities. - Approve timecards and material requisitions. Qualifications: Education & Experience: - High school diploma or GED required; technical training or trade certification preferred. - 8-10 years of boilermaker experience in industrial environments, including 3 years in a supervisory role. - Proven experience working on refineries, power plants, or heavy industrial construction sites. Skills & Competencies: - Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. - Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings. - Familiar with welding techniques, rigging, and heavy equipment operation. - Computer literate with project management software tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project). Work Environment & Physical Requirements: - Exposure to industrial environments with heat, noise, dust, and confined spaces. - Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working at heights. - Willingness to travel and work extended hours, weekends, or night shifts as needed.
