Funeral Home Administrative Assistant
Our funeral home is seeking a reliable and compassionate Administrative Assistant to support daily office operations and assist families during funeral planning. This role is vital to creating a respectful and welcoming environment for individuals navigating the loss of a loved one. The ideal candidate is highly organized, professional, and able to communicate with empathy while handling sensitive matters.
This position supports funeral directors and staff by managing administrative tasks, coordinating services, and helping ensure every family receives thoughtful care and attention.
Key Responsibilities
Family & Visitor Support
Welcome families and guests with warmth, professionalism, and compassion
Answer incoming phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services and arrangements
Provide general information and guide families to the appropriate staff member when needed
Office Administration
Maintain organized records, files, and service documentation
Assist with preparing paperwork such as service details, certificates, and related documentation
Manage scheduling for meetings, services, and visitations
Support day-to-day office tasks including correspondence, filing, and data entry
Service Coordination
Assist staff with logistical preparation for funerals, memorials, and viewings
Communicate with vendors, clergy, and service providers as needed
Help ensure that service details are organized and communicated clearly
Compassionate Care
Interact with families in a respectful and understanding manner during a sensitive time
Provide attentive listening and thoughtful assistance while maintaining professionalism
Contribute to an environment that prioritizes dignity, empathy, and care for every family served
Qualifications
1 year of experience in an administrative or office support required
Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor
Excellent organization and attention to detail
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Comfortable working in an environment that serves grieving families
Proficiency with common office software and phone systems

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
