This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality dental care for a diverse patient population. The Dental Assistant will work directly with dentists and clinical staff to prepare patients, assist with procedures, maintain sterile environments, and support patient education.Provide chair-side assistance for all routine dental proceduresPrepare patients for dental treatment and ensure comfort and safetyPosition and expose dental radiographsApply topical fluoride and provide toothbrush prophylaxis to pediatric patients as directed by the dentistTake alginate dental impressionsMeasure and record patient vital signsPerform routine dental laboratory procedures, including fabrication of dental models and custom traysPrepare dental laboratory prescriptions per dentist instructionsUpdate patient medical histories and treatment records in DentrixEnter and update Dentrix notes as directed by the dentistPrepare and explain dental consent forms to patientsMaintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAAFollow all infection control and OSHA protocols in accordance with Dental Department policiesProperly clean and disinfect dental operatories in compliance with JSU Dental and IHS standardsSterilize dental instruments and maintain sterile work environmentsPrepare dental operatories with appropriate instruments and materials prior to proceduresProvide oral hygiene instruction, post-operative care guidance, and general dental education to patientsMaintain sundry supplies and ensure operatories are fully stockedPerform minimal dental receptionist and front-office duties as needed to support clinic operationsThe job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needsMust be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.Excellent communication and time management skills.Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applicationsDental Assistant certification or equivalent training requiredCurrent CPR/BLS certificationExperience working in a dental clinic or similar healthcare settingFamiliarity with Dentrix or similar dental EHR systems preferredMust be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations.
