Prototype Engineer Intern
Job Summary
The Prototype Engineer Intern provides an opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience building MacDon prototypes and prototype components. These individuals are provided with a unique experience in which their problem-solving abilities are tested while they develop their hands-on experience working with Design Engineers building prototype machinery and obtaining exposure to mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate a wide variety of machine tools to produce prototypes, experimental parts and equipment
May perform any of the following: assembly, welding, and machine/fabrication operations from engineering drawings and instructions
Work with the members of the Engineering Shop, Test Engineering and Design Engineering as needed in building and reworking prototypes
Document issues and report on implementation of designs and make suggestions for modifications or improvements
Learn to read and interpret part, weldment, and assembly drawings, as well as electronic/hydraulic schematics
Repair and maintain shop machinery
Assist in part inventory and part workflow coordination
Keep work area safe and clean and inform supervisor of any unsafe conditions
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
Currently pursuing a secondary degree (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, etc.) in a related field of study.
Skills & Experience
Good interpersonal relations
Strong mechanical abilities - experience with machinery repairs
Proficient in the use of hand and power tools
Ability to work in both team situations and independently
Possess a strong passion for agriculture
Highly motivated individuals with strong organizational skills
Ability to adapt and willing to learn in various situations
Intuitive, self-motivated and hard working with lots of patience
Ability to frequently lift 25-50 pounds
Ability to walk and stand continuously throughout the day with frequent bending and stooping
Work in variable climate conditions
