Program Support Officer

National UNV Assignment - PalestineContextThe United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is the United Nations’ global authority on drugs, crime, corruption, and terrorism, working to promote justice, the rule of law, and resilient institutions worldwide. In the Middle East and North Africa region, UNODC implements its Regional Programme for the Arab States to prevent and combat crime, terrorism, and emerging security threats while strengthening criminal justice systems in line with international human rights standards. In Palestine, UNODC is implementing a project to enhance forensic science capacity, aiming to establish a modern, evidence‑based forensic system that meets international standards and supports fair and impartial justice. The project strengthens forensic governance, quality management systems, inter‑agency coordination, and technical capacity across disciplines such as DNA analysis, disaster victim identification, and forensic databases. This UN Volunteer assignment supports effective project management, coordination, and oversight to ensure successful delivery and alignment with UNODC objectives.Description of DutiesSupport strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of project workplans, budgets, and timelines.Oversee day‑to‑day project implementation and ensure alignment with approved objectives, outputs, and indicators.Monitor operational risks and propose corrective actions to address implementation challenges.Support financial management, expenditure tracking, compliance, and internal control mechanisms.Ensure timely preparation of narrative and financial reports in line with donor and UNODC requirements.Coordinate with government counterparts, project experts, partners, and stakeholders.Support recruitment and management of consultants and organization of field missions, trainings, and workshops.Contribute to capacity‑building activities and knowledge‑sharing initiatives linked to forensic science and criminal justice reform.Profile RequirementsBachelor’s degree in business administration, social sciences, international development, law, medical, or related fields.Minimum 7 years of professional experience in project management within criminal justice, law enforcement, human rights, or development programmes.Demonstrated experience in full project cycle management, including monitoring, reporting, and financial oversight.Strong organizational, analytical, drafting, and coordination skills.Experience working with government counterparts and multi‑stakeholder environments; UN experience is an asset.Ability to deliver results under tight deadlines and minimal supervision.Native fluency in Arabic and fluency in English (required).Application deadline is on 17 May 2026
