The Data Center Global Controls team is looking for a Controls Technician to design, install, test, and maintain Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) in Amazon data centers. The role requires a strong technical background in industrial controls, troubleshooting, and mission‐critical electrical and mechanical systems. Key Responsibilities Deploy, service, upgrade, test, troubleshoot, and start up BMS and EPMS equipment and control systems. Mentor and train Facilities team members on BMS and EPMS operation and controls. Audit and maintain computer asset management systems for BMS and EPMS installations. Manage small to medium size projects and programs. Perform point‐to‐point checkouts between field devices and controllers. Diagnose and maintain programming code and hardware associated with the BMS and EPMS. Provision servers, controllers, industrial PCs, and network configurations; test communication between third‐party devices and controllers or servers. Install, replace, configure, and calibrate sensors. Read and understand electrical schematics, control‐panel drawings, and low‐voltage cabling. Supervise low‐voltage electrical contractors, ensuring compliance with AWS requirements. Commission and provide systems‐level testing support. Create red‐lined drawings and system documentation. Follow change‐management processes to generate work requests and method‐of‐procedure documents. Participate in factory‐witnessed tests at vendors or panel‐builder facilities. Recommend design improvements based on user consultation and system operation. Perform root‐cause analysis during testing and commissioning. Ensure all personnel on site use safe work practices. Work on‐call and on a rotating schedule when required and respond to after‐hours emergencies. Manage ticketing systems, perform root‐cause analysis, and prioritize tasks. Actively manage service agreements, including vendor labor scheduling, quality assurance, and invoice review. Physical Requirements Walk job sites in uneven terrain and work at heights from ladders. Use hands and fingers; handle or feel, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more. Basic Qualifications 1+ years of professional work experience or related technical experience with computer systems and technology components. Technical (Military/Trade School) diploma or associate degree with at least one year of experience in industrial instrumentation/controls or equivalent electrical or mechanical operations. Minimum one year of experience with mission‐critical low- and medium-voltage electrical and/or mechanical systems. Preferred Qualifications One year of experience working in a data center or mission‐critical environment. Associate's or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. International Society of Automation (ISA) Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) Level I or higher certification. Fundamental knowledge of network design and low‐voltage (copper/fiber) cabling. Basic understanding of industrial controls systems, controllers, and programming, including troubleshooting of industrial controls analog, discrete, and networked input/output field signals. Compensation includes sign‐on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
