Welcome to Metronet, where we don’t just build networks; we build communities.Manager of Network ArchitectureAs the Manager of Network Architecture, you will lead our network architecture team – concentrating on transport, PON, active ethernet, service router, and core layers of the network. As the leader of this team, you will oversee and be responsible for the overall physical and logical architecture of the network, documentation of standards, cost analysis, vendor interaction, and assisting with logical implementation in the production network as required. This role will also work closely with the design and implementation teams on network upgrades, augments, and new architectures across the metro and core networks.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Lead a team that develop and evolve published network architecture guidelines for the transport, OLT/Active Ethernet Access, service router, and core router layers of the networkWork with members of Metronet, Vendor partners, and Industry experts to identify network best practices to implement in the Metronet networkTrigger Network Automation team to create and test automation if relevantDocument and share technical guidelines using Sharepoint, Confluence, and any future platform selectedSend release bulletins to relevant departmentsCollaborate with Product Development to ensure the network can provide services offered across all customer segmentsResidential and Commercial Internet (IPv4 and IPv6)Carrier UNI and NNI connections and servicesOptical Wave ServicesBorder Gateway ProtocolCloud ConnectSecurity OfferingsAny future offered network productsCollaborate with Network Automation team to drive toward a software defined network and provide network configurations required to implement.Lead a team that guides relevant lab testing for new equipment and existing equipment configuration changes to ensure recommendations function as intended and integrate with existing equipment configurations. This helps eliminate unexpected issues during deployment and speeds time to market.Develop lab test planCoordinate with lab for physical configuration and testingGuide First Office Applications for new equipment/designs/protocols being implemented in the networkThis is production testing and soak period observation for lab approved solutionsDrive cost effective solutions in the network and standardize those across all existing and new marketsCreate economic and qualitative business case study data to ensure the solutions architected drive value into the businessTrack projects and status with clear and concise updatesCreate tasks and track to completion using project management tools such as JiraCommunicate with and effectively triage equipment vendor and services when relevantTravel to Evansville a minimum of twice a year if remoteAll other duties as assignedJOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in engineeringMinimum of 5 years of experience in communications/networkingPrevious people leadership experiencePhysical network topology design experience spanning multiple geographic areasL2 switching/L3 routing knowledge and experienceWillingness to work as a team and independently.Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skillsProficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.Ability to create executive level Power Point presentationsAbility to create and analyze financial total cost of ownershipStrong understanding of GPON and XGS PON preferred with experience designing these networksStrong understanding of Service Provider Network Security standards and complianceExperience with Nokia, Calix, and Adtran fiber-based access networksExperience with DWDM/ROADM and other optical transport systemsExperience with network monitoring software such as Unified Assurance, Solarwinds, KentikFamiliarity with Nokia SAM / NMS / AMS /Altiplano, Adtran AOE, Calix CMS, and MetaSolvJoin us and find out what it means to love your career!At Metronet, we are committed to delivering cutting-edge technology combined with exceptional customer care.
